The Tasman District is a large area at the western corner of the north end of the South Island of New Zealand, bordered by the West Coast Region, Marlborough region and Nelson city. We are surrounded by stunning landscapes and beautiful scenery. We have three National Parks in the Tasman District - Kahurangi National Park, Abel Tasman National Park and Nelson Lakes National Park. Our major rivers are the Buller, Motueka, Aorere, Takaka and Wairoa rivers. Our mountains are noted for their extensive cave networks, and it is in the Tasman District you'll find New Zealand's deepest caves at Ellis Basin and Nettlewood. Our beaches and seascapes are some of the best you'll find in New Zealand. Golden Bay, Kaiteriteri beach, Little Kaiteri, Totaranui - they are all safe and beautiful beaches.
